39TH INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS NOMINEES ANNOUNCED
Nominations span a record 20 countries
Cannes/MIPCOM, October 3, 2011: Nominations for the 39th International Emmy® Awards were announced today by The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at a Press Conference at Mipcom. There are 40 nominees in 10 categories. The full list of Nominees follows this release. Winners will be announced at a Black-Tie Ceremony on November 21, 2011 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
Nominations span a record 20 countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, The Philippines, and The United Kingdom, The competition has three rounds of judging over a period of 6 months, with participation from over 800 judges in 67 different countries.
"The International Emmy® Awards is a tough competition with over 1000 entries from 61 countries, this year." said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. "The number and range of countries represented by this year's nominees is astonishing and a testament to the growing strength and skill of television production around the world."
In addition to the presentation of the International Emmy® Awards for programming and performances, The Academy will present two special awards. Veteran British producer Nigel Lythgoe, Co-creator and Executive Producer of So You Think You Can Dance & Executive Producer of American Idol, is set to receive the 2011 International Emmy® Founders Award. Subhash Chandra, Chairman Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, will receive the 2011 International Emmy® Directorate Award.

PORTUGAL: «Ongoing não vai à privatização da RTP», diz CEO

No âmbito do plano de recuperação económica e financeira do País, o Governo anunciou a necessidade de proceder à privatização de algumas empresas, constando entre elas a RTP.Esta decisão gerou natural agitação porque, num país sem grandes razões económicas para sorrir, oportunidades de negócio como as que se adivinham são poucas e todos se colocam na linha da frente para ir a jogo. Todos? Não! Quase todos!
Nuno Vasconcellos, presidente da Ongoing, escreveu um artigo no Diário de Notícias de hoje sob o título "Vícios privados, públicas virtudes" onde criticou os grupos Impresa e Media Capital, opinou sobre a privatização da estação pública portuguesa e que a TV da Ongoing é... a SIC.

Com mais de 25 milhões de assinantes nos EUA e no Canadá, a Netflix chegou ao Brasil. O valor da mensalidade é de R$ 14,99 como preço definitivo e o primeiro mês é oferecido.
Para Reed Hastings, fundador e CEO (na foto), ressaltou a grande paixão dos brasileiros por vídeo e que “o Brasil tem conteúdo excelente”.
A Netflix anunciou contratos de licença no Brasil com grandes estúdios de cinema e televisão, dentre eles: Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Television, NBC Universal, TV Bandeirantes, ABC Television, CBS Television, Dorimedia, MGM, Lionsgate, Summit, Miramax, Relativity, BBC Worldwide, Televisa, Telemundo, TV Azteca, Caracol, Telefe e Disney.
O maior entrave à expansão no Brasil é a falta de ligações estáveis de banda larga que afetam a experiência do utilizador. É preciso uma ligação com velocidade mínima de 500 Kbps, mas a empresa recomenda a partir de 1 Mbps.
A revista Exame aponta a falta de títulos recentes no catálogo da Netflix. As séries e os filmes, entre os que estão disponíveis, chegam com um ano ou uma temporada de atraso.
No Brasil, o mercado começa a reagir. «"Estamos bem posicionados para brigar", diz concorrente brasileiro da Netflix», NetMovies, ao portal iG.
Em todos os 42 países da América Latina, América Central e Caribe terão acesso ao Neflix durante este mês. Além de português, a Netflix estará disponível em castelhano por toda a América Latina.
No primeiro trimestre de 2012, este serviço estará também disponível em Espanha e no Reino Unido.
